Around 3000 people enrol on Adult Education courses every year. Committed, hardworking and highly motivated, they are a source of great pride to the Guernsey College of Further Education and of mutual support to each other. Our team of over 120 tutors are conscientious and dedicated with a keenness to share their skills and expertise.

We accept enrolments from people aged 16 and upwards. Our students come from all walks of life and professions, and their reasons for coming to Adult Education are just as varied. Many have full-time jobs and families to support and are looking for an additional qualification or seeking to develop a new skill or interest. Others are attracted by our leisure courses as a way to relax from work, or to enjoy their retirement. Whatever the reason and whatever the course, we trust your experience of adult education courses is both enjoyable and enriching.

We are constantly reviewing our service to you and should you have any suggestions for new courses or how our service may be enhanced, we would be pleased to hear from you.

I look forward to welcoming you to Adult Education in the forthcoming academic year.

Message from the Principal: Trevor Wakefield

I hope you enjoy looking through our prospectus and that you find something that inspires you to enrol on one of our popular Adult Education classes. Believe it or not, but Adult Education courses have been running on the island since 1922 when there were only a handful of courses, the most popular being ‘housewifery’! That class is not in the current programme but there are now hundreds of courses that attract about 3000 enrolments every year.

After the popularity of the Donkey Parade, we are featuring the Guernsey Cows on Parade as our cover. This hugely successful GALP fundraiser involves very many local artists and community groups and is highly popular with locals and visitors throughout the summer months. If you haven’t already seen them all, grab a map and do the tour. They will all be auctioned on Sunday, 23 September, hopefully raising much needed funds for GALP.
