Discover how Jon made his way to Uni and became 'Student of the Year'

“Jon is a remarkable young man who has excelled in all of his subjects and was a popular student with tutors and fellow students alike. Jon Brown was named as one of two College of Further Education Students of the Year for 2009. He was presented the award by Deputy Director of Education John Lamb at the awards evening held in the college restaurant on Tuesday 16th June 2009. He was presented with a certificate, a trophy and a cheque for £30 sponsored by Southampton Solent University.

Jon started his studies at the college whilst still at St Sampson's school by attending half a day per week for 2 years, achieving a grade C double GCSE award in Engineering . He was taught by tutors Mark Pratt and Frank Everett.
He then started on our new 2yr full time BTEC National Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering with Robin Powell as his Course tutor. He achieved distinction grades for the majority of his assignments and was duly awarded his full level 3 certificate. He is now looking forward to taking a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Portsmouth University.
