Learning Support

The learning support team is able to offer all of our students help and support with their studies.
This includes help with Literacy and Numeracy and study skills.

The learning support team is able to give extra help to individual students in various ways, by

  • helping to screen learners for appropriate courses
  • providing technical expertise in the teaching of English (language and literacy) , maths (including numeracy), and study skills
  • providing help for those students with learning gaps or blocks, especially where that arises from unsuccessful previous learning
  • building learners’ confidence, and teaching successful learning strategies

Learning Differences

We want all of our students, regardless of what level courses they are studying, to do their very best and to fulfil their potential.

All members of the learning support team have an understanding of learning differences and the impact these may make on an individual’s learning process.

Dyslexia

Some of the team are specialists in supporting dyslexic students.

If you are dyslexic, or suspect you may be, the team can arrange screening tests and provide the specialist support you may need.

You also may be entitled to special, extra support for your examinations.

Locations

The learning support team is based on the top floor at the Coutanchez in an area known as ‘The Hub’.
Members of the team can usually be found in rooms 206, 207 and 208.

At the Delancey site, the learning support team can be located in the Russell Building in room D29.

If you want help at any time, please call in to The Hub and find a tutor. If they are unable to help you there and then, they will be able to make an appointment to see you at a convenient time.

The Learning Support team at the Guernsey College is there to help you to be the best that you can.
