Initial Training Programme (ITP)
Level One IMI Technical Certificate
A course for first year Motor Vehicle
apprentices, providing an additional
amount of practical training together with
the normal elements of further education.
The first year will provide for three days at
College. Two days will be spent in the
workshops and students will gain a variety
of extended basic skills in motor vehicle
practice, welding processes and general
engineering, the third day follows the IMI Technical Certificate course for Motor
Vehicle apprentices.
External and internal examinations are
taken during the year and a skills test is
taken at the end of the year.
This additional skills training with ‘on the

assist in improving the overall standards of
apprentices within the motor trade.
The second year of study is conducted on
a single day release and evening attendance.
