Thanks to this amazing team.
#GuernseyTogether 💚Our amazing team of swabbers have swabbed more than 1,000 Islanders over the weekend, with hundreds more booked in today, until after 10pm this evening.
They are working from 8am – 11pm, every day, alongside the scheduling, track and trace (Guernsey’s equivalent of Sherlock Holmes and Miss Marple combined), and lab teams, who are putting in eye-wateringly long hours.
A million thank yous are simply not enough for all that you are doing -for not seeing your own families, for putting yourself on the front line, for us.
We will be forever indebted to your dedication.

January 2021 is Good Care Month and, as we've just gone into another lockdown, we thought we'd share links to local support available to you if you're feeling worried or down.
Please remember, if you are a student of the College, our Progress Coach team are still available to you. If you already have a Progress Coach assigned to you, you can contact them on GCFE Connect. If you feel like you would benefit from some support but haven't accessed the team as yet, please contact your tutor or email support@gcfe.net.
Along with this, the States of Guernsey have some ideas on how to take care of your mental health on this page: covid19.gov.gg/support/mental-health
Guernsey Mind are also available here: www.guernseymind.org.gg/
St John Ambulance Guernsey are also offering an Essential Delivery service by calling 742147 or, if you would just like to have a chat with someone, you can use their Caring Caller service on 720088.

🔴 PLEASE NOTE 🔴
While our College has at this stage not had a confirmed positive case of COVID-19, we know that other education settings have and we must also prepare for such a possibility. We know that news of cases in education settings will be worrying for you but it is important to recognise that there are robust systems in place to manage this situation. As part of the Public Health’s well-established contact tracing procedures, they will directly contact any student or member of staff if they need to be tested. We must trust and be led by Public Health who will contact any groups or individuals that it considers necessary.
If you don’t hear from Public Health please do not instigate testing yourselves unless you are symptomatic. If you or your son/daughter/apprentice develop symptoms please contact the clinical helpline on 756938/756969 in the first instance. For more information about symptoms please visit covid19.gov.gg/guidance/symptoms.
Public Health is incredibly busy so please adhere to the above advice and do not contact them to alert them of any links that you think that you might have. Please only contact the helpline if you are currently symptomatic.
Please be assured that all appropriate steps are being taken across all education settings. Students - we will contact you directly again should any further information become available that you need to be aware of and continue to update our website and our social media channels. www.guernseycollege.ac.gg/wp/coronavirus-updates-2/ ... As we all expected this is an evolving situation. As a result of public health guidance this afternoon, there is now in place a 48 hour closure of ALL educational sites for ALL students. Whilst this may impact you and your family, we are continuing to plan for and implement our distance learning offer. Course tutors will be in touch by email or GCFE CONNECT to let you know what is expected.
As ever if you have any worries or concerns please do not hesitate to contact your course tutor. Our progress coach team is on hand to support you/your son or daughter/your apprentice if needed and you can contact them using GCFE CONNECT or by email - support@gcfe.net. In emergency call either of these numbers - 07839 777643 or 07839 777649.
You can also email us on covid19@gcfe.net and one of the team will be back in touch. You can also call 07839 195800 or 07839 234881 if you would like to speak to a member of the college senior management team.

💚OK Guernsey, you know the drill. We’ve done it before, and we can do it again.
We know this isn’t the news you wanted to wake up to this morning. We know you had plans for the weekend. We know you’re disappointed, distraught even, that birthday parties and events that you were looking forward to have been cancelled with almost no warning. That you can’t visit loved ones in Hospitals and care homes.
We know working from home and home schooling is an almost impossible juggle, we know this is going to be really difficult for many of you.
We know it’s hard but please, stay at home. If we all follow the rules, we will get through this and get back to the life we had got used to.
This is what we’re good at, so let’s get to it.
We’ll be with you every step of the way. Stay calm, stay sensible, stay safe. We’ve got this. Let’s remind the world what the #GuernseyTogether spirit is all about.
