Following the announcement today (29 May 2020) from Public Health…
We are opening up but it will be different…
We are really looking forward to welcoming some of our students back into College over the next few weeks. We are not able to run students’ normal timetables. Instead they will be invited into College for a specific purpose.
From 1 June
As of 1 June we will have four weeks left of the academic year and, in line with our awarding body guidance, we must focus our provision on those students who are completing their qualifications this summer.
This means from 1 June we will be welcoming into College only those students who urgently need assessment for occupational competence.
We have already contacted these students who will be in next week, their employer or parents/carers individually, to inform them of their revised timetable.
From 8 June
From 8 June onwards our teams have planned which student groups will be invited into College and they will be contacting students shortly, if they haven’t already done so. These sessions will not be a normal College day.
Our campuses remain closed to the public at present and we will be sharing information about what this next phase of opening will look like in the coming weeks. Only those students who really need to come into college will be invited to do so (which will be at specific times), and therefore no student should attend unless they have been asked to.
We are determined to support all of our staff and students and ensure their safety; we have already planned for our rigorous cleaning and hygiene measures across all of our campuses to be in line with Public Health guidance.
We are clear that our focus now must be to ensure that our students’ qualifications, experience and progression is as good as it can be. If students have any questions, no matter how small, they should get in touch with their tutor.
