Engineering Yr 10 & Yr 11 BTEC L1 & L2 School Links Programmes
We offer level 2 BTEC awards in engineering which are work-related qualifications involving you in engineering. They allow you to do more practical work alongside the science and technology theory in the classroom. The qualification is equivalent to 1 GCSE and takes two years to complete.
During your studies you will be investigating how engineers:
- work safely and efficiently in workshops
- communicate effectively
- maintain good working relationships with other people
- interpret information contained in drawings, documents and other data sources
- use science and mathematics
- manufacture and test products
So if you have an inquisitive mind, enjoy solving problems, and have an interest in science and technology, we think you’ll like our programme. But first you need to talk to your careers tutor and see if it is possible for you to study this subject at college.
The units you will study during the course are:
- the engineered world
- investigating an engineered project
- machining techniques
- computer-aided engineering
Each unit is assessed through work-related assignments which are set and marked by your college tutor. Then, following a college internal verification of your assignments and an external audit of the quality assurance systems by Edexcel, the certificates are duly awarded. Additionally, the “engineered world” unit will be assessed by an external examination.
Opportunities for progression
This qualification will open up opportunities for further learning. You can go on to university by taking the Level 3 BTEC extended diploma in manufacturing engineering or go on to take a
craft apprenticeship in mechanical, electrical or fabrication and welding engineering. For full details of this L2 prgramme CLICK HERE
We also offer a BTEC Level 1 in Engineering. For Full details CLICK HERE (this page is under constuction. Will be available soon)
