Teacher Training Courses – come and find out more

We are holding an nformation evening for those interested in part time teacher training courses on Thursday 15 September 6.30pm – 7.30pm at The Princess Royal Centre for Performing Arts (green room) .

GCFE is running two exciting teacher training programmes this year for those looking to develop their educational practice or seeking to make a career change.

The City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Education and training (AET) course run by Martine Ellis and Vanessa Mee is a 14-week course running from both September and February on a Tuesday evening 6.00-9.00pm. This course replaces PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Sector). It prepares learners for teaching in a wide range of contexts and does not require learners to be teaching while studying the programme. Achieving the qualification will provide sufficient evidence that individuals have acquired the necessary skills and knowledge to enable them to teach or train in the further education and skills sector. This is a classroom-based programme. All learners will have access to support and resources to help them complete the programme. The course will be made up of the following units: understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships; understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches; and understanding assessment. COST £499.50.

The Level 6 Certificate in Education is a formal qualification for those teaching (or planning to teach) in the lifelong learning sector and is taught in conjunction with The University of Brighton. It will run from October on a Friday afternoon 1.00pm-4.00pm over two years. It includes six modules which cover advanced teaching practice, contemporary issues in education and training, reflective practice and action research. The course works well for education professionals wishing to develop their practice alongside their teaching. Candidates will be expected to teach for at least 50 hours per year within post compulsory education or training or the lifelong learning sector. Entry requirement: Either GCSE English or an equivalent literacy qualification. COST £1945 per year.
