Level 5 Certificate in Education

The Guernsey College of Further Education has launched a new exciting teacher training programme starting this month for those looking to develop their educational practice and skills or people seeking a career change.

The Level 5 Certificate in Education is a formal qualification for those teaching (or planning to teach) in the lifelong learning sector and is taught in conjunction with The University of Brighton.

It is running on a Tuesday evening between 6-9pm over 16 months. It includes six modules which cover advanced teaching practice, contemporary issues in education and training, reflective practice and action research. The course works well for education professionals wishing to develop their practice alongside their teaching.

Candidates will be expected to teach for at least 50 hours per year within post compulsory education or training or the lifelong learning sector.

Entry requirement: Either GCSE English or an equivalent literacy qualification.

Louise Misselke, Principal, said:

‘This is one of several qualifications the college now offers in association with The University of Brighton. It enables students to complete a formal qualification whilst in full time employment without having to attend off-island training courses. We are delighted that we have been able to add this course to the wide range of learning opportunities offered by the College.’

Places on the course are still available and anyone interested should contact Vanessa Mee vanessam@gcfe.net
